You guessed it, an update on the house! August 19th, 2006

I realized that we have put up a ton of pictures of our home building project, and it may be annoying to the rest of you who take a look and it's the same old thing week in and week out. I guess this is our little baby since we don't get any of our own, I imagine once we finally have a kid, we'll put tons of pictures of him/her up and you'll be sick of those too. :-) But to those of you who are excited as we are, the brick is all done! The parts you see in the front that are still wood will be stucco and of course there will be the soffit around the edge of the roof.

Another cool thing is that the house is far enough along that they were able to give us a solid date on closing and other meetings that take place around then. The plan is to close on October 9th! That is nearly 3 weeks ahead of schedule, so we were stoked to hear the news.

The hardwood floor is going in! They will put it all in and then put in the kitchen cabinets and paint and all that. Then around the time everything is finishing up, they come in and sand it and put a dark finish on it. Michelle was expressing her excitement! Posted by Picasa

This is the tile in the master bath. It is a smaller and darker tile than that in the laundry and main bath--see the next picture. It will have a deeper rich feel to it. At least we think. :-) Posted by Picasa

And here is the tile in the main bathroom. It looks like they are getting ready to do the tile in the laundry room as well. Posted by Picasa

Here is the wall in the living room after the mudding has been finished. We are getting the textured walls (fresco?) so they don't have to sand down the walls to be smooth. Posted by Picasa

This is a shot of the ceilings after the texturing has been done. Next step on these guys is the painting. I'm not sure when that will start. Posted by Picasa

Josh and Rosie's Wedding August 18, 2006

It finally happened! We've known both Josh and Rosie for a long time, and they've dated for over two years, they started coming to gamenight a bit after they got together. They've been known as the Skinmon's (Josh Skinner and Rosie Simmons) for quite a while to us so we were happy for them when they became the Skinners instead. Congratulations you two! Here are a few pictures we took at the wedding celebration.  Posted by Picasa

Here we are! We were delighted to be a part of this with Josh. He's been and is a great friend. On the left is Dan Hosford, then myself, and then Bryson, an old roommate of Josh's and also worked with us for a time at Harris Interactive. Posted by Picasa

Here is a picture of the Groomsmen and Bridesmaids. I knew most of the guys and had no clue who the girls are. Posted by Picasa

The Harris crowd. I'm standing in front of Dan Hosford, and Mike Kendall is on the right Posted by Picasa

Isabelle Hosford, daughter of Dan and Bekah, was sick of the camera attention on everyone else so we did a photo shoot with her.  Posted by Picasa

Here is the adorable Michelle holding the adorable Isabelle. Posted by Picasa

Yeah one of these would be nice, but until then we'll borrow Isabelle for a few minutes at a time. She is super cute and when she poops in the diaper we just give her back.  Posted by Picasa

This is the Hosford family. Dan Bekah and Isabelle. Posted by Picasa

No this wasn't a shotgun wedding, this is Isabelle Hosford. Isabelle was a bit sad to see all of Josh's attention go to Rosie today. Josh has always been her favorite. I guess Rosie finally won though. Congratulations to Josh and Rosie, they are Great! Posted by Picasa

Midweek peek at the progress August 16

Michelle came over to look at something for the builder midweek and decided to take a couple snapshots. It was fun to see and hear about the progress of the bricking. Posted by Picasa

This is what the brick looks like close up. It is the design that goes around the side. Where you see wood, will soon be stucco. Posted by Picasa

Here is another shot of the home. The brick is almost done. By sunday it should be done. Posted by Picasa

Hey it looks like a house! August 13th, 2006

Well another week has come and gone. The sheetrocking was all done! Michelle is standing in the Master Bedroom. You can finally tell what the rooms look like!  Posted by Picasa

A big surprise today was when we drove up there were a bunch of pallets of brick all around the home. I guess it is next! Posted by Picasa

This is the shot of the kitchen, with walls Posted by Picasa

Elizabeth Jen and Michelle look on as we take a tour of our new house because it has walls! Posted by Picasa

Greg came for the first time to see the home, he is standing in front of the hardwood floor. It will sit here for a bit to adjust to the environment. Posted by Picasa

Elder Greg Droge Returns! August 1, 2006

Elder Greg Droge is home! For the past couple of weeks we have been so excited for Greg to come home and now he finally is. On Tuesday August 1st we picked him up from the Airport. He returned from the Mexico City East Mission. Greg is my closest sibling younger than myself and we have had a lot of good times growing up. People say we look a lot alike and Greg has appreciated all those compliments. :-) When I got home from my mission, everyone wanted Greg and I to arm wrestle. I won and vowed to never arm wrestle him again because he was entering his senior year and looked as tough as a horse. A couple weeks ago I told Michelle that I better start lifting again so I could preserve my perfect record. The family wanted to see the rematch, and I am proud to say that I prevailed again. I've wondered if he just let me win to keep my pride. Either way the pride is still intact. :-)

As a note: Greg speaks in church August 13th. The church is at 600 East and Center Street in Bountiful. Sacrament meeting starts at 11:40am. Posted by Picasa

It was fun to have most of the family all together (Everyone except Shawn's family--he is in Iraq while Becca is in Tennessee with their children Sarah and Ethan). We bought a 4 foot sub and scarfed that down in true Droge fashion now that the ranks were almost full again. We played a couple of games and listened to Greg's mexican music. He actually sang along in a couple places. It was a lot of fun. Posted by Picasa
