Demont William DaBell Jr. June 1930-May 2006

Michelle's Grandpa DaBell died suddenly in May 2006. His obituary is below, along with some pictures of the funeral.
BOUNTIFUL - Demont William DaBell, our beloved husband and father died at LDS Hospital with his family at his side Monday morning May 8, 2006. Monte enjoyed excellent health his entire life. He died of an unexpected and sudden infection that led to untreatable complications.
We miss dad. We love and thank him for his patience, wisdom, his example and optimistic nature. He always loved life to the fullest. He loved everything and everyone. Demont and Diane served as ordinance workers in the Salt Lake Temple for over 15 years. They served a mission to the Washington D.C. temple 1994-1995. He was a docent at the LDS Church History Museum. He loved to garden. He loved and served his country in the Air Force. Until the end he maintained many childhood relationships. He was a friend to all. A faithful and humble, gentle man.
Monte was born in Rigby, Idaho on June 24th, 1930 to Viola Neeley and Demont William DaBell Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane Dickson DaBell, sons David, Daniel, Darin and daughter Annette DaBell Pond, and his brothers Brent and Ralph DaBell. Monte was proud of his family and loved his 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 11th, 6-8 p.m. Russon Brothers Mortuary 295 N. Main, Bountiful, Utah. Funeral services Friday May 12 at 2:00 p.m. Bountiful East Stake Center 2200 S. 650 E. Bountiful, Utah. Interment-Bountiful Cemetery.

After the funeral, we got into a procession to drive to the cemetery.

Grandpa was in "the service" and thus the reason for the American flag on the casket. All of grandpa's girls also got a rose from the arrangement on top of his casket. 

As we arrived at the cemetery, this young chap was playing the bagpipes. It was beautiful and set a wonderful tone for the proceedings.

Dave got to be a pallbearer along with the boy cousins and Grandpa's brothers. 

Grandma got a front row seat at the dedication of the grave. She misses Grandpa the most. 

Michelle's sisters, Heather and Nicole (twins) are starting to miss Grandpa.

Our family photo at the cemetery with Grandpa's casket in the background. The view from the cemetery is amazing because it has a great view of the mountains as well as the Great Salt Lake. Combine it with the peaceful feeling and a beautiful sunset and its a small piece of heaven on earth.

Dave Graduated! BYU April 27-28, 2006

It is time. Finally the good times at BYU come to and end. It's been a great learning experience and I've made a bunch of new friends, but I'm looking forward to opening the next chapter in my life.
BYU does their graduation in two days. The first day is Commencement. This is when all 6400 graduates walk in the processional from the Administration building to the Marriot center. Then there is a bunch of talks and then we walk back out.
The next day each individual college has their Convocation where they read our names and we get our fake diploma. 

Alas, my stay at "the Clyde" has come to an end. The Clyde is a place where you meet a lot of guys who tuck in t-shirts, wear socks with sandals, and carry pens in their pockets. Though I don't participate in all of these habits, I am an electrical engineer and don't have many opportunities to get out of the clyde. I've spent many hours here doing labs and homework. Finally after all this time, I am being let out of the building. I graduated!!

Here I am with my parents and grandpa Miller (my mom's dad). 58 years ago, Grandpa Miller graduated from BYU. Back then he said only about 4,000 people attended BYU. This year 6,400 people graduated with me. 

We are SO excited to have Dave done with school! FINALLY!  

Just in case you were confused, I graduated from Brigham Young University. 

Michelle's sister, Kimberly Baum and her husband, Brandon Baum are graduating too! Here we stand with the famous "Cougar." Careful guys, he looks ferocious! 

My cousin Blake Durtschi also graduated. He graduated Magna Cum Laude. Yikes, that's the top 5th percent of BYU's graduating class.
