A big surprise today was when we drove up there were a bunch of pallets of brick all around the home. I guess it is next!

Greg came for the first time to see the home, he is standing in front of the hardwood floor. It will sit here for a bit to adjust to the environment. 

Elder Greg Droge Returns! August 1, 2006

Elder Greg Droge is home! For the past couple of weeks we have been so excited for Greg to come home and now he finally is. On Tuesday August 1st we picked him up from the Airport. He returned from the Mexico City East Mission. Greg is my closest sibling younger than myself and we have had a lot of good times growing up. People say we look a lot alike and Greg has appreciated all those compliments. :-) When I got home from my mission, everyone wanted Greg and I to arm wrestle. I won and vowed to never arm wrestle him again because he was entering his senior year and looked as tough as a horse. A couple weeks ago I told Michelle that I better start lifting again so I could preserve my perfect record. The family wanted to see the rematch, and I am proud to say that I prevailed again. I've wondered if he just let me win to keep my pride. Either way the pride is still intact. :-)

As a note: Greg speaks in church August 13th. The church is at 600 East and Center Street in Bountiful. Sacrament meeting starts at 11:40am. 

It was fun to have most of the family all together (Everyone except Shawn's family--he is in Iraq while Becca is in Tennessee with their children Sarah and Ethan). We bought a 4 foot sub and scarfed that down in true Droge fashion now that the ranks were almost full again. We played a couple of games and listened to Greg's mexican music. He actually sang along in a couple places. It was a lot of fun.

Greg was a little shocked to be home and be back to a normal life. We love listening to his broken english especially the spanish accent that he puts on all his words. Michelle and I got a laugh when while telling a story Greg used the phrase "we were astonished!" It seems as though the only thing he has been doing in english is reading the book of mormon. Soon Greg will stop shaking everyone's hand and the accent will fade, but until then we will enjoy his fresh RM personality! 

Annalynne is home for a little while too! Annie (Dave's only sister) has been down at Dixie College for her first year of school and is going to take a break this fall to go teach English in China. She got home a couple days before Greg and will depart just a couple days before Greg heads off to Provo to "enter to learn and go forth to serve." 

The Building Continues. August 6th, 2006

Another week has gone by! This past week the framing was finished, the roof was shingled, the electrical was wired and insulation was started. It will be crazy to see in a week from now when we have actual walls! No more stepping through the framing, we'll have to use the doors and hallways. In this picture you can see my parents Lynn and Maxine (little brother Adam behind them) It has been fun to take a little sunday drive each week to check out the new developments, and both of our families like to come along too.

Okay, so this week wasn't so exciting. Jen Pond and Annalynne Droge agree. They didn't care much for the new developments, they were too excited talking about China! Jen just got back from teaching english in China (through the same program that Michelle went through--but different city) and Annie is just about to head out to go to China and be in the exact same school as Jen! 

This is what most of the house looks like as it awaits the next step. you can see the outlets in the wall standing out against the insulation. This is the kitchen where the fridge will soon be.

I can see through these walls, but we are excited to see for how long... the sheetrocking will mostly likely be next. 

Building a House! July 30th 2006

July 30th. We couldn't believe the progress of our house! We now have a front door, though it hasn't been stained yet. Come on in and have a look at the Droge home. With the rate its going we'll be moving in in no time! 

Lets move in! The excitement this week is it looks like the roof is about ready to be shingled and the house is plumbed, we even have our tubs in the house. We also have interior walls, and windows. The house is coming along great! 

Just for fun, the other day we drove around to see the neighborhood and this is what we found... This is two blocks behind our house. I believe the street signs say Middle St. and Nowhere St! 

Here is the family room portion of the downstairs. This is about how it will look when the house is all finished. We will be hosting indoor soccer tournaments for all who are interested!
